Default Pocket 2\'s, WSOP

You're playing very tight, only shown aces for the day.

WSOP Main Event, Blinds are 250/500 with Ante 50 (10 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t40000)
Hero (t30000)

Preflop: Hero is in UTG+1 with 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG raises to t1500, Hero raises to t5000,
(Hero has a read that UTG is full of it and since Hero has tight image he wants to take the pot down right here.)

folds around, UTG raises to t12000, Hero ?????

Folds and realizes that he played this hand like [censored], call preflop next time and flop a set.

Hero thought that the reraise from UTG+1 confirmed that he was full of it so Hero pushed AI. First move of the day.

If your read is that strong that he is full of it, then there is no need to post this hand other than to brag. The forum can't help you with your read, and no one on here is going to tell you to shove after a UTG raise and 3 bet after a reraise.

We don't need to help him with his read, we need to see if the bluff is reasonable against the range in his read.

What range of hands is he 3-betting there OP? And is this the line you would take with AA? What hands from his range do you expect UTG to fold from this play?

Hero had a great read or a terrible read.

I tend to believe UTG raisers and really believe UTG 3 bettors. I think if he had a midpair he would have just tried to flop a set against your raise pf so this looks like a big pair or AK

Either way this hand is completely read dependant and not great for discussion.

I don't like the play at all but if you thought he was weak and would reraise and then lay down 88-JJ, AQ- then I guess its ok but if you push you are either a coinflip or completely dominated if he calls. Either way you have turned your hand into a complete bluff and it does not matter much if you have 22 or 72o.

I think you should have smooth called (or folded for fear of the squeeze) preflop and if you called you should have used your great read to push him off the hand if you think that he missed.

Well it wasn't to brag. Hero pushed and got called by QJo. My intention was to first see opinions on raising based on a read and then to get opinions on the push. So I didn't want to post the whole hand at first. Would you ever push in that situation? Why or why not? Would you consider it a horrid play based on a read?

If he's calling with hands as bad as QJo, it's a pretty horrible play. You need to give more information on your read, specifically what I asked in a previous post.

I agree "it does not matter much if you have 22 or 72o"

Under the circumstance that you raised preflop, do you lay it down to the reraise or do you push based on that read? Do you agree that a call is completely unreasonable at that point?

I don't care how great your read is, once Villain reraises to 12k he's not folding.
