Default Some time to reflect . . .

Wondering what to do with myself when the workday (well, it was a Sunday, but I was still workin') was over and I would usually fire up PP for some shorthanded 30-60. So, I went for a jog at the local high school track. I used to run quite a bit in law school and my first couple of years in practice, but let it slip by the wayside as the business grew and I started playing alot of poker.

Gave me a good chance to reflect on the last 3-4 years or so. Instead of feeling pissed off (which I still am) and sorry for myself, I focussed on the positives that poker has provided me, and the things I have had an opportunity to do as a result of playing poker.

Certainly, the financial aspects. I paid off my school loan, paid off my mortgage, and built up a decent little roll as well. Luckily, I was smart (or cheap) enough to put much of it away for a rainy day. It's been raining pretty hard lately.

Moreover, I had the chance to learn a tremendous amount about LHE, being able to play tens of thousands of hands as opposed to just 30 hands an hour in a casino.

Most important, I have had the chance to speak with and meet some truly great people from 2+2 - people who play much better than I do. People who weren't old enough to get a drivers license when I started on 2+2 - people who's game developed to another level before my eyes, as the years went by.

If online poker goes by the wayside altogether, or if it becomes simply unprofitable because of the elimination of the US fish or increased rake/tax, what I will miss the most is talking about poker, good-natured ribbing in threads and during 2+2 grudge matches, and having the chance to meet in person folks who otherwise are just names on a computer screen.

Personally, I'm in a tough spot because I live in an area where I cannot readily drive to a decent game (50-100+). So, my poker future is unclear at the moment, but one thing is for sure: finding 2+2 and the folks who made it the best source for poker information on the net has been a very important part of my life over the last several years, and I thank you for that.

VNp, But I'm unclear about the timing of the reflection.

Is it because you've had a bad run in poker or the possibility of online gaming coming to and end?

Either way I hope it works out.
