Default River 3-bet. spew or standard?

Villain is 24/15/2. Is villain raising this river often enough with just an ace for this 3bet to be correct?

Yes definitely 3-bet. It helps that he can't (or shouldn't) 4-bet you with aces up.

Looks fine. Most of the hands that beat you would have put in more action on the flop or the turn. Sometimes you might run into A3 or A5 or something slowplayed but A3 and A5 don't always get threebet preflop so they should be discounted somewhat.

Is villain's line typical for something like AQ these days? When I played the party 5-10 a lot it was more common to see a flop 3-bet there.

The get-checkraised-and-call-down line is more indicative of something like second pair in my outdated experience - i wouldn't be suprised at all to see A5 or A3 on the river here.

I suppose it is also possible to see something like a busted heart draw, or an ace high heart draw.

In the past I would have just called this raise, but if the call down line is now common with big aces then it is worth the river 3bet.

edit: to soah - the fact that hero is raising 89 here suggests to me that if there is any history, villain will probably 3bet A3 and A5

What does BB have when he calls the turn? It does narrow his holdings.

AK AQ AJ AT A6 A7 A4 (im just listing the ones that we beat which might raise the river and call a 3-bet). also obv A5 and A3 that beat us. A8 and A9 put more action somewhere.

Looks standard in a blind battle.

I thought calling the turn bet would reduce his Ace-hands to Ad xd or AJ+. Didn't notice the wheel draw.
