$100NL 6-max AK river decision.
Having trouble with converters so i'll do my best to put it in. Comments on all streets appreciated.
No solid read on villain. possibly a bit loose/nittish. this is 1st time i've played against him. He probably views me as aggressive as the short time i've been sitting i've been opening a lot of pots and c-betting most. the last hand i made a bluff c/r vs another opponent and folded to his AI, hence my shorter stack. hero: $69.90 villain: $93.23 hero is button with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] villain raises UTG to $3. 2folds. hero reraises to $7.50. 2folds. villain calls. flop: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] villain checks, hero bets $12.55, villain calls. turn: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] villain checks, hero checks. river: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] villain bets $20, hero??? |

Re: $100NL 6-max AK river decision.
I would reraise 9-10$ preflop, your Flop bet and turn check is ok to me, i would call that river only.

Re: $100NL 6-max AK river decision.
I assume the decision is between calling and raising. Clearly you are not folding. I'd just call. I don't see a better hand calling a raise, and you'd have a real difficult fold if the villian pushed.
This is a about the best case scenario river for you considering you checked the turn. If you think there is more value then the $20 call, shouldn't you have bet the turn? |

Raise more PF. Postflop is played fine, I would call that river.

[/ QUOTE ] it was between calling and folding. not many hands bet 1/2 pot into me at the river that i beat. if i raise i turn my hand, which has very good showdown value, into a flat out bluff. [ QUOTE ] shouldn't you have bet the turn? [/ QUOTE ] no, firstly, i don't want to inflate the pot size any more. secondly, if i bet it gives a worse hand the chance to get away, whereas if i check i may induce a bet from a weaker A or smaller PP on the river. it is for these reasons i called. he showed AQ. |

Re: $100NL 6-max AK river decision.
The bet on the river could have easily been a weaker A or even a bluff since you showed weakeness on the turn by checking. I happily call the 1/2 pot bet here, you only have to be good 1:3 times.
You kinda took the "shouldn't you have bet the turn" comment out of context. What I said was, if you were thinking of raising the river, shouldn't you just bet the turn. Since you were not considering raising the river, that question does not apply. Too bad you lost the pot, but I'd still call the river 100% of the time. |

Re: $100NL 6-max AK river decision.
I always bet the turn, but if you arent' going to bet the turn, then how can you do anything other than call the river?
