Hello all. I've been playing fulltime for about 17 months in everything from $30/60 online up to $50/100. I've also been playing $100/200 live as well.
I was averaging anywhere from $12-18k a month (1BB/100 in the $30) and feeling pretty good about how I quit my job. Suddenly in July I broke even, July I lost $6k, and in September I lost $5k. I'm not concerned in the least about being down $12k since obviously I've occurred much larger downswings than that in these games and I understand variance is part of life. What I am concerned about is the fact that it's been 3 months. I've had $35k losing streaks before but I was back out of the gutter within two months. This is the longest non winning streak of my life. I've been playing what I think is my absolute best. So I humbly ask my fellow poker gurus if it's possible I'm just running bad? I've talked to a few other tough players who believe that's the case but I'd like to hear from a few others. What's the longest breakeven streak? What's normal? thanks. |

I don't have time to do the math, but needless to say you are the best poker player of all time. Quit now before variance catches up.

I had a losing streak that lasted 5 months, you might be in for a long one too. I've heard of winning players having losing streaks as long as 9 or even 10 months, but that is quite rare.

"Of all time" seems a little exaggerated, but he clearly is the best of all players outside the big game plus Phil Hellmuth. |

I know some very good winning players that have had losing stretchs close to 100k hands.
Now live play, man that is a long time, but online that is less then 2 months for some. Live play you can do the math, but figure 1 table obviously(duh)approxiamtely 35 hands an hour and playing 60 hours a week. |
