Why Stars (and all the majors) will pull out....
Any site that accepts US players will have any employee arrested the moment they set foot at McCarran for the next WSOP.
Sites like Party and Cryptos, will be able to send players and send representitives to the main events based in the US, since they do not allow US customers. Given that the US market is going to drop off signficantly whether a site remains open to its players or not, I believe the larger sites will find it more profitable to cater to the Euro/Asian market and remain access to US soil. |

The people at the WSOP for pokerstars.com will be there promoting pokerstars.net, which is legal.

PokerStars.net is not a seperate entity. PokerStars.com cannot send real players to the WSOP if they are accepting US players and want to stay out of jail.

Any site that accepts US players will have any employee arrested the moment they set foot at McCarran for the next WSOP. [/ QUOTE ] This is a huge leap. Pure Supposition. The new legistlation doesn't say anything new about playing or hosting online poker being legal or illegal. The legistlation focuses on the financial transactions and ISP's hosting links. [ QUOTE ] Sites like Party and Cryptos, will be able to send players and send representitives to the main events based in the US, since they do not allow US customers. [/ QUOTE ] So the main focus of on-line poker sites is to send people to the ME??? I thought that was just primarily marketing efforts. [ QUOTE ] Given that the US market is going to drop off signficantly whether a site remains open to its players or not, I believe the larger sites will find it more profitable to cater to the Euro/Asian market and remain access to US soil. [/ QUOTE ] Why would they want access to US soil if they aren't doing business here???? |

They could certainly make it a separate entity.

Re: Why Stars (and all the majors) will pull out....
There is almost no chance that the big sites are just going to give up the American market. They will definately be trying to find a way to continue in some form or another. Perhaps through sister sites or spinoffs. They aren't giving up that easy, because if they do and places like UB don't their efforts in Europe wont mean much because a lot of the european players will jump over to the new big dogs.

Re: Why Stars (and all the majors) will pull out....
Couldn't the majors just hire PR firms to represent them at the WSOP then?
I say all the majors boycott the WSOP, at least that will get Harrah's on our side. At this point, I don't see how not being able to come to this damned country is necessarily a bad thing anymore. |
