Thanks for the link. I agree with the Senator. I think we should all march on washington and outlaw alcohol, nicotine, Nyquil, state lotteries, horse betting, bingo halls, sugar, etc... I want a moral world god dammit! I started eating sugar at age 4 and I quickly became addicated to heroin. Yes it true, sugar leads to slamming.

I wonder how many republicans here that senator and nod there head in agreement. Stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

The PPA's rep should have just said ONE line and not allowed them to edit whatever they wanted. He should have said, "This is complete [censored], if these liars were really concerned about gambling adiction, they would start by closing state lotteries, onshore casinos, horese tracks, etc..." Well, maybe said it a little different. But basically the PPA probably has no media training so they don't know how to ensure their proper sound bite gets heard.

Now that I think about it, playing poker and dealing drugs are exactly the same thing... Thank you Senator [censored]

FYI, the city of Birmingham has a good Democratic congressman (still probably voted for the bill in the House, what can you say, it's Alabama). This guy represents the rich suburbs of B'ham and surrounding rural areas.

He said that about gambling sites, actually. He has a tiny, tiny, tiny, vanishing point, just enough so that it's not a complete lie. Some people get addicted to gambling the same way others get addicted to drugs. Therefore, as drug dealers provide drugs to addicts, the gambling sites provide games for game addicts.

The same analogy applies easily to online porn, too. I'm quite sure there are at least as many sex addicts as there are gambling addicts. Grocery stores sell coffee to caffeine addicts and chocolate to sugar addicts, so they resemble drug dealers, too. And of course, alcohol and tobacco are drugs, yet they are legally sold everywhere.

So what he says is true. Sort of. But it's also meaningless. Except to those who want to believe.
