Default brainstorming

I'm just a player, and I am not sure how all this is going to turn out. But online poker is not going to just go away.

It may be that the future of online poker is $Ws, or something that we can purchase, but can not redeem for cash.

$W could be redeemed for packages including entry fees for a legal poker tournament (live or online) which would be held in a casino.

Ultimately there will be stronger coupling of online and live casinos and I would not be surprised to see live casinos buying internet sites at their reduced valuation.
A more sinister view is that the live casinos have engineered all this.

I think many tournament players will make this transition because they are already psychologically predisposed to play for packages such as non-redeemable qualifiers. (which $W are not currently).

Many of the sites have already run very large satellites to tournaments with alot of success.

I imagine the game will change substantially, but there will still be some mechanism by which you can play if you want.

As many have pointed out, I would be very cautious about being a professional poker player in this environment, even if I was living abroad, the games are likely to get much tougher.

Just some thoughts.

This sounds like the Pachinko theory.

Yeah, well it's been a long time since I played Pachinko.

Every situation is different, and now is the time to start a dialogue about what kind of online play is likely going to emerge.

Everyone needs to face the music and accept the fact that ALL the online sites are going to close their doors to US Customers rather than breaking the law and face an uncertain future wrt the DOJ. And all this is likely to happen in the next few days.

Obviously there will be widespread depression across college campuses nationwide. But there will be huge opportunity for whoever is able to build the best pachinko model.

Why would this be, if the legislation criminalizes DEPOSITS, not WITHDRAWALS?

Everyone needs to face the music and accept the fact that we have no idea what's actually going to happen to all the sites. And this will likely play out over the next 270+ days.

Obviously there will be rampant speculation on the interweb, but no one is going to come up with a business model to "get around" this law on a 2+2 forum. But please, feel free to speculate...

There not deposits or withdrawals, they are dues, or membership fees coupons, or whatever you want to call them, as long as they are NOT redeemable for cash, then it changes the nature of the transaction.

You are buying coupons to an online gaming site where you can win a prize.

Yeah, heaven forbid someone advocate a rational, calm, wait-and-see approach.

No offense was intended in my response. I just believe you are jumping to conclusions that are completely unwarranted based on the information in front of us, and would strongly advocate a more rational approach.

This is ridiculous. On what basis have you formed this opinion? The writings of Nostradamus?
