Default 200NL 6max, AK pre-flop decision

Button is 31/7, nothing that special by him. BB is a short stack donk.

Hero $300
...
Button $300
...
BB $80

Dealt to hero A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero raises to $7, folded to button who calls.
BB pushes for $80, hero...?

I'm quite confident that BB does this with all sorts of crap, and HU I'm doing very well agains him. Is there ever need to raise, or do I just call?

you could shvoe but i see no problem with just smooth calling here, Button doesnt call with much maybe JJ+ and pushing only folds out the JJ as QQ i think calls this bet all day so yeah smooth call best here and evaluate on flop if Button calls which is going to happen a small percentage of the time

I don't mind pushing here. We have FE, and aren't completely dominated if he calls. If you stand correct on your range of villain, you're no worse than a 60/40 here. You're probably more like a 65/35. The thing that bugs me though is you say you can see him pushing with all sorts of junk, yet he's 31/7...that's pretty damn passive preflop. I don't know how that translates into him pushing with a lot of junk, but w/e.

I like a push better than a call because of our FE, us not being in bad shape, and the fact that I hate calling off 25% of our stack hoping for a flop. I also like pushing because we can isolate...yeah, button probably isn't calling the push anyway...but I still like pushing vs calling.

Folding in an option too, we can alway play post flop poker againts this guy and stack him when we have a hand. Never a bad decision imo. Then again, if he's bad, stacking him isn't necessarily bad, because we can be fairly confident we'll take it back anyhow.

Just calling would be pretty bad, I think. Button almost never has AA/KK, and he's folding everything else. Get it HU.

This is a shove or a nitty fold. I hate the calling option. I really despise putting in 1/3 of my chips in a short game with AK.

I personally gamble it up here and yes there is FE.
