Default FYI...check the legislation forums

For those that haven't seen the news, check out the meltdown over at the legislation forum.

I don't think any sportsbooks have come out with their announcements yet, but I expect we US folk won't be able to place wagers in the very near future.

You may want to take this into consideration when deciding whether or not to place bets this week.

This sucks....especially the money I've got tied up in NFL season win totals. No idea WTF is going to happen there.

One can only hope that the sportsbook are a little less reactionary than it appears the poker rooms are going to be. I think that they will be a little more resistant since books like Bodog probably won't exist without the US customer.

Sportsbooks have been under scrutiny before this online poker boom, if sites like Ultimate Bet (they've said they plan on going nowhere) are sticking around, I doubt many established books are going anywhere. Also NETELLER has said they have been following the bill and assure there'll be no effect on US customers.

sportsbooks were always considered to be much more straddling the legality line than poker rooms. Considering they already welcomed US bets, I don't see them changing. That being said, I might relax for the next few weeks and let the dust settle.

I realize this thread might be out of place but hope that it is left because the legislation forum is so crowded with nonsense and this is a much more mature forum. Plus 95% of the conversation there is poker related and its hard to find sportsbook related info.
I have some questions. Are most of your leaving your funds exactly where they were and continuing as normal?
I’ve personally always left more funds in Mansion that any other book. My bankroll is $5K and I typically have $2K in Mansion, $1K in Pinnacle, $1K in NETeller and $1K spread out at a few other books. For some reason I’m feeling safer cutting Mansion out for now till I see what happens. I hope that my funds are the safest with Pinnacle and NETeller. Given the choice right now I feel I will probably sacrifice a point or two of juice of I have the option to use Pinnacle for now. Am I over reacting? Does anyone feel certain books might be better to keep money in than others right now?

Wsex and Bodog have both said business as usual.

From what I understand. As long as you use Neteller, this will have no effect on you because the books will keep taking bets from neteller no matter what happens. I don't see this legislation doing anything other then prohibiting people from depositing into sites with EFTs and CCs. Neteller is a third party and is not a gambling site.

Spoke to a manager of a sportsbook and they arent going anywhere. Interestingly, pokerstars and partypoker were both huge in advertising within the us markets, sportsbook aren't. He even told me if they had to have you the customer log into a site for lotteries with passcode and then it takes you to the betting screen it would happen.

Sports betting over teh interweb was always dubious at best, and most likely already illegal.

This won't affect my sports betting bankroll or actions in the slightest.

I will continue, as always, to only deal with top-rated books and I have zero fears of these books taking my money.

I am worried about poker slowing down, but honestly the smartest thing to do right now is carry on, and contact your representatives.

in my opinion, what you see happen is that in the ~270-day window between signing and enforcement at the bank level you see a push to legalize and legislate internet gambling. Which will mean IRS reporting, tax withholdings on cashouts, etc.

It doesn't look very good for gaming sites...

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/20...g_x.htm?csp=34

Party Poker is pulling out of US and likely others too. I hope this doesn't effect sports betting sites but I have a feeling it's going to be same. If Neteller/Firepay pulls out, which is stated in article, where else can you do cash transactions, certainly not w/ CC?

F%^k!!!
