Did Brenes win his WSOP seat on stars in 2006, or did they buy him in?

Well, he was announced as a member of Team PokerStars on the 21sth of July, so I guess if he did not already have a seat they bought him one. I know that doesn't answer your question.
I played with him in a tournament a few days before the announcement. He was as silent as a lamb. A week later I see him playing with a shark, shouting 'UMBEEEEEEERTOE!!!!!' and generally acting like a complete [censored]. Funny.
