House and Senate negotiators agreed late on Thursday on the outlines of the port security legislation. It would authorize $3.4 billion over five years for actions such as installing radiation detectors at the largest U.S. ports.

these [censored] morons at in the US govt could get close to that in tax revenues in a few years if they regulated and taxed online gambling.

bad news guys: I have confirmed with a friend in the know that the internet gambling ban HAS been attached to the bill. If the bill passes (expected to do so), we are screwed. the extent to which we are screwed will be a function of the language of the bill - which I am not aware of yet.

What's the number of the bill? We can find the language online. I'm guessing it's word-for-word like the one Frist tried to tack onto the defence bill a couple of days ago.

Why is Reuters all over this, while the US news services are quiet?

Here's the latest. It does not say anything about ISP's blocking sites. Small ray of hope?
