Q7o from the big blind hits flop - Am I too aggressive?
Found this hand from about a year ago. I'm still not sure whether I played it right.
I'm in the BB and get dealt Q7o 0.25-0.50 Real calling station table. Suits are irrelevant. Preflop: 4 people call including button, sb folds I check. Flop (5.5 sb) 7 8 8 r I bet my pair of 7's. Two folds, 1 call and the button also calls. Turn 3 (4.25 bb) I bet figuring I can't afford to give a free card. 1 fold, button calls. River Q (6.25 bb) I bet button raises I call. My thoughts now are in white below I now believe this call is a mistake. The only reason he would raise here is if he just hit the q and probably has a better kicker than me, or already has me beaten with the third 8. I think a c/f is out of the questino so I'm leaning towards either a b/f or a c/c. I can see him calling with more hands than he is betting so a b/f would be best? |

your thoughts seemed to be based on villian's river action ...
there is no reason for you to put him on a Q or an 8 ... villian could easily have a pocket pair, that you just pulled ahead of |

That river card sucks. Your kicker is counterfeited now. You are losing to trips and Q8+. I can't see not betting this river, but if this is a passive player who is raising, you should probably fold.

Flop: does anyone else like the check-and-see? Q7 may not be good on this flop, betting into four opponents.
Turn: Not wanting to give your opponents I think is good thinking, especially if they might be calling with overs. River: Folding seems out of the question with two pair on this board. Because the villain is a "calling station," He quite possibly had overs, including a Q. But that doesn't mean he has you out kicked. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, it makes a big difference if by "calling station" you mean loose passive, and not just loose. If he's passive you probably are in bad shape. |

Re: Q7o from the big blind hits flop - Am I too aggressive?
The reason for my hesitation is that too many times at this level (over 90%) I see people raising because their hand is great. Basically the raise to me indicates strength. I guess he might of had 9's or 10's.
So the recommendatino is bet/call on the river? How about the rest of the hand. |
