Default Too much with this ATs 15/30?

Good live game. This is likely a standard hand, just want to verify my line here. Hero has AT [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in ealry middle position.

Terrible player limps UTG, folded to hero who raises, 2 cold calls and BB calls.

Flop is Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (10 SB)

check, limper bets, hero raises, another terrible player cold calls, folded to bettor who calls.

Turn is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (8 BB)

check, this is a trivially easy bet here right? How about the raise on the flop?

Hi there,

Seems to me like raising the flop is just charging yourself to draw. I don't think you're ahead at this point, and I don't see you folding any draw or weak made hand.

Turn seems like a pretty clear check behind as well. Unless you can convince yourself that /both/ players will fold either heart draw or whatever piece of the board they hit.

Well the idea was to clean up outs, possibly get a free card and maybe folding out hands that could outdraw me if I hit one of my weak outs. As far as the turn, my thinking was I'll have to call a bet from the cold caller, so I might as well bet my self and disguise my hand a little bit if I hit.

Checking the turn is actually a fairly deceptive move. If I were Villain, I now put him on two hearts, KT, or some kind of a J.

What outs are you hoping to clean up? AK and KT are not folding.

Yeah, check the turn. You got the free card, you're not ahead, why don't you want to take it?

Because I'm unlikely to get it with the guy calling behind me. Like I said my reasoning was that if I'm calling a bet, I might as well bet myself.

except you run the risk of getting raised right after and thinning the field. tis much better to let that person bet (or check behind, which i give about a 30% chance of) and let others call and you call to close the action. then donk the river if you hit.
