Default Re: Puggy Pearson mentioned by Bill Gross

Bill Gross actually got his start as a "professional" gambler. He moved to Las Vegas to count cards and play blackjack after reading Edward Thorp's "Beat the Dealer", the first book that documented how to beat casino blackjack. He went on to use his winnings to pay for Business School at UCLA.

Thorp was an interesting character himself. He was a pioneer in securities arbitrage and managed a successful hedge fund that focused entirely on arbitrage. He averaged over 20% returns annually over his investing career.
