I lived in Austin for several years and can say with some certainty that the Republic of Texas would invade Louisiana if they locked up Willie.

Also, Kinky Friedman has said that if elected, he would name Willie Energy Secretary. I think it would be hard for him to perform his cabinet level duties if he was in Parchman.

I just saw a clip about this on The Soup.

Apparently they only got a citation and a small fine for possession, even though it was a pound and a half, because, as Joel McHale put it, "there was clearly no intent to distribute."

I don't think Willie "beat the IRS," he paid plenty... that's why he was doing those "ballad of the rose tattoo" commercials for Taco Bell.
