2/4 B&M, 10 handed, loose & fairly passive table (6/7+ to flop)
Villain (MP3) is a lot tighter preflop than all of the other players in this hand (except me). She might be a little puck shy right now as she's had the very loose B/SB/BB/UTG players make lottsa stupid hands on her. Hero (UTG+2) has been card dead all night so hasn't played many hands. I've probably raised 50% of the hands I have come in with only to usually completely miss the flop and had to go out early, so perhaps my raising isn't respected at all. PreFlop: (10 players) Hero is UTG+2 with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, Hero raises, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, Villain struggles with her coldcall, CO folds, Button coldcalls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls Flop: (6 players, 12 SB) K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, Villain raises, Button coldcalls, SB coldcalls, BB folds, UTG folds, Hero calls Turn: (4 players, 10 BB) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB checks, Hero bets, Villain calls, Button calls, SB folds River: (3 players, 13 BB) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets... I'm sure preflop is fine but I'm a little unsure on other streets. Should I have 3bet the flop? The board is kinda coordinated so I didn't. The turn and river are perfect cards for me so is betting out correct? Gcluelessnoobgettingslaughteredatloosepassive2/4tableG |

I like the pre-flop and flop.
I would have tried to c/r the turn though (and pray for a blank). With the flop raiser on your left you can c/r and hopefully trap the field for an extra bet. River is good. Peace, Mygtar |

Preflop: standard
flop: reraise/call and reeval on the turn turn: as played, bet river: on this passive table, bet, as the villain calls down often with K worse kicker, and button likely just missed either a flush or straight draw. If raised consider folding unless you think this passive player can get tricky. |

Just so I understand, what's the point of 3betting the flop on this board? Is it because I still have likely the best hand and want to make drawing hands pay?
Let's say I did 3bet and everyone calls (which is what I believe would have happened in this hand). How does that change how I play the turn and river? Would I still lead the turn not wanting to give a free card or would I risk the check/raise? |

First, I'm just learning here, too, but I'd 3bet because I think there is a good chance that you have the best hand.
Given the 4s, which is a great card for you, I lead the turn as I think there is still a good chance that you have the best hand. However, if you get reraised on this fairly passive table you have to consider a fold. Anyone else? |

The point of 3-betting is for value. When you 3-bet the flop, bet the turn, going for a check/raise is silly.
