$5.50-2 hands, 2 pocket pairs with overcards on the flop
Both of these hands are from 2 seperate STT's. Both involve overcards to my pocket pair. I am just curious if I played these right
Hand 1: Still pretty early in the game. The read on the villain was fairly agressive and loose. Liked to talk [censored], especially after this hand. 6 people left(10 person STT), blinds 15/30 Relative stacks: Villain(CO): 1545 Hero(B):1190 I'm on the button with Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Preflop: Folded around to the villain in the cutoff who limps. I raise to 135tc, blinds fold, villain calls. Flop: (315tc pot, 2 players) 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain checks, Hero bets 150, Villain calls Turn: (615tc, 2 players) 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain goes all in for 1260. Hero ??? Hand 2: Different STT, with 6 players left. 41st hand into it. Blinds are 20/40 Relevant stacks: Villain(SB):1580 Hero(UTG):3640 Preflop: Hero dealt K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I raise to 140 and I get 2 calls. Preflop raise too small? Flop: (420tc, 3 players) T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain checks, Hero bets 300, 1 fold, villain calls. Probably bet too much here. 1/2 pot better? Turn: (1020tc, 2 players) J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Vilain checks, Hero ??? I'm just trying to improve my play with overcards on the flop to my pocket pairs. Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated. |

Re: $5.50-2 hands, 2 pocket pairs with overcards on the flop
hand1: I would call here. I can't imagine a K playing like this. The only thing I'm worried about is the 6 hitting his set, but I think he's more likely to have a mid-pair.
hand2: checking the flop, or a probe bet on the flop would be better. With 2 callers, the only thing that you will fold is 2 mid-pairs, and that's pretty unlikely that both of them have that hand. I would definitely check the turn, since you do have a gutshot and don't want to get raised out of the pot. |
