Amanda Peete still is kind of out of place, but i can see her growing into the role. Hopefully they expand the assistants role, she seems like she could be a good character.

Yeah, I liked it as well. Hopefully it'll have an audience and not be another critically acclaimed show that nobody watches.

One thing I worry about is when they start to show actual sketches, etc. from the live show, as to whether we'll really "buy it" as good comedy. The opening number, for example, that was supposedly such an epiphany for them to come up with as their "cold opening", seemed kinda dumb. This could be a big distraction, even if we only occasionally see parts of the show itself.

As the above poster pointed out, you would've been disappointed. I'm really enjoying this show so far. Wasn't sure if I'd like a Sorkin show that isn't The West Wing, but his style of framing shots and conversations keeps you interested.

I doubt they'll ever show any of the skits for any number of time. It kinda takes away from time for storylines, and Sorkin rarely showed many of the speeches in West Wing.

I actually thought this show was inferior to the first ... no real reasons, just didn't keep me excited. Although I thought Amanda Peet looked even better in this than the first episode.

I thought this ep was great. The sorkin-ism was dialed up like 3 notches. Scattered thoughts:

The whole opening scene with the press conference and afterwards in the hallway was awesome.
I think Peet was solid (I had no problem with her in ep 1 either).
I still don't like Harriet.
I hope they find enough for busfield to do.
Weber showed a glimpse of being Weber-like when he was having the beer, which I liked. I don't buy him as Mr. Hardass.
I thought the song was funny.
Did Sorkin/Schlamme get screwed by someone before they were famous?

This is going to be a good show. I'm worried it won't last.

Yes. ABC raped them on Sports Night. That's where Schlamme's directorial style really found its rhythm. NBC was much nicer to them on West Wing.
