I didn't even know this was going on. There are a bunch of 2p2ers coming to Tunica this weekend, details here:

I might be able to make it in time for the $1500 event. Maybe I'll play some satellites for the $5k event.

Why is that discussion taking place in OOT??

GF and I are going to Tunica for a quick getaway tonight actually.
But I will probably not be playing very much poker.

Drinking and donking at the blackjack table is more likely.

DANG, wish this place in Las Vegas would sell. Was in Tunica a few weeks ago. LOVED IT----Moving out that way soon (I hope).
Staff was good, dealers were good, the 10/20 was good.

I don't know. Are you going to be able to make an appearance sometime this weekend?

I actually did get to play a little 2/5 NL while the GF hit the workout room.
The games I was in at the HS weren't particularly super-juicy but they sure weren't bad. I was playing from about 4p-7p.

Lots of games going in the Horseshoe room for an early Monday evening.

Lots of people coming out of town from this stuff.
Advance promotion in cardplayer, etc seems to have made a big difference.

On my initial 2/5 NL table there were guys sitting around me who had come all the way from Texas, Northern Ohio and Iowa just for the WSOP Circuit stuff at the Grand.
Two 25 year olds and a 65-ish guy.

While there wasn't any play too outrageously bad we did have quite a few 6 and 7 player flops.

I raise 5xBB in BB with AK and 4 limpers all call.
Flop KK2 and some guy with 77 calls down my value-bets all the way.
He bet $30 or so into a $400-ish pot on the river and then calls my raise.

This was about the worst play I saw though...just got lucky that it happened in a hand against me.

When I talk about 'lack of horribly bad play' that means I didn't see anyone live-straddle for 5 hands in a row or something like that (live-straddles are allowed from any position except the blinds) or really ridiculous bluffs.

Sounds like the ring-games at the Grand were particularly juicy from what I heard. Probably better after the tourney guys bust-out of course.
Big stacks betting into each other with 3rd and 4th pair is what I was told.

Supposedly the Grand had 600 players + 100 alternates for yesterday's $300 buy-in event.

So if you want to play any of the events at the Grand it might be best not to wait to buy your entry.

Anyway, the cash-games were good enough and plentiful enough at the Horseshoe last night that I might try to make an appearance at the Grand's ring-game action on Friday or Saturday.

I think it was kind of dead during the August circuit event last year but I believe that may have been due to lack of advance notice and/or publicity.
But this one really seems to be jumpin' with activity. I was a bit surprised at all the out-of-towners I was meeting who came all the way to Tunica just for this.

There is about a 5% chance I will be able to make it for the $1500 event.

I'd like to hear how many entries they get for the $1000 today, and if they expect to max out the $1500 tomorrow. I may get to sneak over, but I'd hate to get there and find it sold out.

they'll certainly have alternates.

And there are other tourneys going on at Gold Strike and Horseshoe as well in the very worst-case that you get completely screwed at the Grand.
They probably still have openings for the $1500 I would have to think and are probably still playing sats for it.

You could always call the Grand and see. And perhaps they would let you register over the phone.

And if the tourneys at GS and HS are too small for you then there are still the cash-games which are likely to be plentiful and fish-filled.

Sorry i can't give you any ideas on the likelihood of it getting sold-out. But I think there will be plenty to do in Tunica in the worst-case scenario that the bigger tourney at the Grand somehow fills up.
