My 45-pound dog just ate about 3 grams of raw weed. I broke up some b-grade and had it sitting on a paper plate on my coffee table, waiting to be rolled. I take a shower and when I come back the weed is gone, stems and everything.
At first I didn't think much of it because the dog seemed fine and I thought that THC needed heat to be activated. 3 hours later, I notice the dog isn't moving and is unresponsive to commands. Also, his head is bobbing when he lifts it up and he seems to have lost bladder control. We get him on his feet and he's barely able to stand up and stumbles when he walks. When he sits, he falls over backwards. Me and the GF both think it's pretty funny at this point. We let him outside and he runs around for a while, but burns out after about 5 minutes and goes back to just laying on his side, breathing slowly. It's a few hours later and I'm getting a little worried about him. He won't drink water and isn't eating. Then I go one some websites and read online that dogs can actually OD on weed. Should I be worried? Do I take him to the vet, or just stay up with him and make sure he's able to ride it out? |

He should be fine, the lethargic state he is in is basically the same as when you eat weed brownies. I feel like he would have to consume much more than 3 grams for any serious negative effects, especially of stuff that isnt that high quality.

He'll be fine my lab ate 25 brownies once. I was a little worried at first, but he pulled through like a trooper. Crazy thing is he ate 5 more three days later. Don't go to the vet, unless things gets seriously critical. When my dog ate the 25 he was groggy for 2 days.
What kind of dog? My lab is like a 100lbs. |

hell, my parrot (And her name is Mary Jane btw), I feed her weed every once in awhile to calm her down when she chirps profusely. She comes out like a trooper as well.

Keep an eye on him. The biochemistries are dissimilar enough. Volume/mass ratios are the concern here. Just stay up and ride him thru it, man.

Don't take him to the vet! He will be forced to report the OD and your dog will be facing some serious time.

I know a couple of dogs that have eaten more weed than that. Your dog should be fine.
I have a friend whose pit bull ate 80+ hits of chocolate mescaline once. The next day he found a big rock about the size of a baseball that he started carrying around everywhere he went. He wouldn't let anybody touch that rock. That went on for several weeks. Other than his short term rock fetish, he was fine. |

Whatever you do, DO NOT PLAY MUSIC around the dog. Trust me. They already normally have 3 or 4 times the hearing of humans, and music when they are high would be too much. Also don't yell at all or make sudden loud noises.. they will freak, my dog (mini schnauzer, maybe 13 pounds or less) took 2 huge hits from a blunt and she was high for a good 8 or 9 hours, which was not intended and a stupid mistake. But she will be genuinely really scared by loud noises, like literally scare the [censored] out of them scared. Just keep a good eye and if the dog seems more and more upset or dispondant, and it looks more serious, take them to the vet immediatly.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys. The dog's name is Rza, he's a mut, no one can really figure out what he is, probably an aussie mix of some sort. I'll try and post some of the footage, there's some pretty funny stuff in there.
