Default Somewhat long and OT for the SSNL...

This may be long...

I used to play a lot and want to build a bankroll for small MTT. I have had a few good cashes in them, last year. I started out with 50 just yesterday on PS and am now down to $43 dollars. By no means a bankroll yet...

So I had this idea. Maybe you guys can shoot it down or perfect this. I read this in a poker magazine a few months ago and figure it could be more profitable than normal play at the micro-limits on stars (6-max). The article by Jim Rose. You buy in short stacked and push with AA-QQ and AK. When you double up you leave the table and buy back in on another. I feel this could actually work online and be more profitable at these and two card limits. But is it?

On another note what if we call with every other pocket pair and pot bet when they hit/or push? Will this increase the profit rate, if it is profitable?

Give me your opinions on this...

By the way we are talking doing this at 8-10 tables and at the very smallest of limits.

Your odds of being dealt AA-QQ or AK are about 38:1 so you only get them about 1 in 39 times. So if you're playing at a full table of 10 players then it will take 4 rounds to get a hand like that, and if you buy in for the minium of 10 big blinds, by the time you get your hand you will only have 4 left, which will go to 8 and then down to 2 then up to 4 then broke (assuming you double up each time!) Doesn't seem like a profitable play to me

You're giving up a lot of value to play that tight, especially 6-max. Try following Getting Started in Hold 'em instead. Get a temp job, work three hours, and go spend 20 bucks on it if that's the only alternative to buying it out of bankroll.

It's going to really suck if no one calls.

First off, this topic has been discussed ad nauseam.

Think about what you are asking here. You are playing approximately 1 in 40 hands and putting your whole stack in play when you do. How long before you think even the most novice player catches on?

Don't get me wrong, learning short stack theory is a good step in developing your game, but the best way to build a bankroll is to learn to play real poker and not pushbot poker.

Invest your money as follows:

Harrington on Hold Em 1 & 2 - $50
Phil Gordon's Little Green Book - $20
Theory of Poker - $30

Move to NL $50 ring and $10 SnG's. Play tight, use position, DON'T BLUFF! Bankroll will build itself. In the meantime, save $50 a week from your day job.
