Wascally Wabbit....
I posted a blog about this and wanted some opinions here.
I was playing poker last night as I seem to do most Wednesday nights. The group is a good mix of guys that I'm best friends with and friends of friends that I'm becoming more familiar with. Everyone stays friendly and jokes are cracked around the table but I may have crossed the line last night. You be the judge. Some of the players probably don't have English as their primary language. They speak it very well but sometimes the words don't come out exactly right. Berfday = Birthday. If we were going to "deck the halls with boughs of holly" some would Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra. So this one guy announces his raise as he always does. He Waises. I've played with him maybe 4 times and he's a pretty nice guy as far as I can tell. I'm the dealer when he announces his raise so I move the action along and tell the player next to act that "he waised to 500." I get immediate looks from the whole table and I know I've crossed the line. The next guy calls and the guy after him says "I would have to be a suuuuuuper genius to call this." An obvious Wily Coyote reference....wrong cartoon but you get the idea. So, funny joke at the expense of this guy with the accent. My defense is that it's a bunch of guys playing poker. We bust each others balls...that's what we do. I can see him being offended though so I'll apologize out in the open here in this blog for my joke. I thought it was funny but now he probably thinks I'm a total d*ckhead. See you waiter!
