At which point should I be folding?
Villain is 50/20 tricky aggressive (both pre and post flop) player who bluffs a lot. If you'd search for a "bad LAG" this guy's picture would be there. I was so happy that I hit TP since I was soooo sure he had a weaker ace. Where's the fold? Party Poker No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t50/t100 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t1745 Hero: t3550 CO: t4260 Button: t2105 SB: t6840 BB: t1500 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 folds, Hero raises to t275, 2 folds, SB calls t175 (pot was t425). Ok a decent hand with a good stack. I raise it up since everyone but SB is w/t. Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t650, 2 players) SB checks, Hero bets t300, SB calls t300 (pot was t950). Ok a nice flop for me when HU. Villain might hit K or a weaker A. I'll bet 1/2 pot (which for some reason I didnt) Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t1250, 2 players) SB checks, Hero bets t500, SB raises to t1575, Hero calls t1075 (pot was t3325). Ok so he called. I might be behind and maybe I should check/call to control the pot. But this guy is wild so if I check he'll prolly bet big with ATC. Most likely he's got an weaker ace so I'll value bet. Woot a reraise. Well that kinda fits with the weaker ace theory. Or maybe I'm just hoping for it here. Oh [censored] it I call and hopefully he'll save me some chips on the river if he has me beaten. River: K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (t4400, 2 players) SB bets t1400, Hero calls all-in t1400. Oh dear he didnt have mercy. I'm beaten but no way I'm folding. Meh. |

I check behind on the turn for pot control reasons as you say, and also this may induce a bluff on the river, or he may think his Ax is good. If you think he bets with ATC on the turn if you check, that's good, isn't it?
As played I would have folded to the turn check-raise. |

Edit:
I read the hand totally wrong, forget what I said. I am just laying it down on turn when raised ... plain and simple as that. ... but then again I am not much fond of AJ anyways, so chances are I wouldn't have played this hand. |

Push or fold to that turn reraise IMO. Love the title, relax a bit this is a tough spot.

I push the turn reraise in an 11 unless I have reads...too many big stacks playing rambo to let this go. He could be on the flush, he could have kq, he could have qj, jt, etc.

how does the party poker stress dice compare to the pokerstars stress star?
edit: for the hand...250 preflop, bet more on flop, more on turn. as played the pot odds are way too good to fold on river. |

Against an aggressive player like this I'd consider check-raising the turn all-in - make him think I was just taking a stab on the flop. As a bonus, if he checks through on the turn then that isn't bad either.
I don't generally like playing post flop with AJ but would be happy too against a player like this even though yeah, sometimes they do win. rvg |
