Poker site name bleeped out on Tonight Show
Tonight on Leno, guest Jamie Lee Curtis mentioned she plays poker online. She stated that she played for "pretend money" on "this thing called ---- ---- poker" (think she said full tilt). What the ----?
you can't even mention a name on tv? its good to have some celebrity say they play poker online. but bleeping out a name just draws attention to it and implies that its wrong. and why would they bleep it out to begin with? how is this worse than tv commercials or showing someone wearing a ftp jersey? she even said she plays play money only. |

Re: Poker site name bleeped out on Tonight Show
because why would the tonight show give a free plug for an online gambling site if they didnt buy an ad?

One time I saw an actor plug a movie on a talkshow, I think I saw a similar thing with a book or something, but I'm not sure on that one.

[/ QUOTE ] plugging a book or movie when that is the entire reason youre on the show is NOT the same thing as casually plugging some website during an unrelated interview. talk shows do this all the time, the only reason youre noticing it is because it involved online poker. |

Re: Poker site name bleeped out on Tonight Show
I have to believe someone has mentioned that they think they're going to get a BMW or that they really like to drink Heiniken or eat carrots or mention some other product without them bleeping it out.
I also have to believe that at least one one of those products was not a sponsor of the tonight show. I agree that it's kind of weird that they bleeped out Full Tilt or whatever it was. Maybe Party-dot-net runs ads on the show or something?? Or maybe some network idiot just got ultra-paranoid about mentioning online-poker but it seems really dumb to me. |

because why would the tonight show give a free plug for an online gambling site if they didnt buy an ad? use your [censored] common sense. [/ QUOTE ] youre a dolt. People mention companies on TV all the time and aren't bleeped out. Do you think if someone says they just bought a Honda the tonight show would bleep it out because they don't pay for advertising? They bleeped it out because they are a punch of pansies. |

talk shows do this all the time [/ QUOTE ] Patently untrue. Guests on talk shows talk about products/personal lives all the time and I've never heard it bleeped out. |

Re: Poker site name bleeped out on Tonight Show
I would assume it's because anytime a site has a commercial on TV, law requires them to specifically say .NET at the end of it. Like, "Play at PartyPoker.NET" or "Pokerstars.NET"...and she just said Full Tilt?
Would be my only guess. |
