There are a bunch of hands he could have that you beat.
Very read dependant I'd say.

johnny,

You played this hand well. There really is no way to figure out whether MP2 has JJ or AA/KK. You will see him turn up other stuff you beat occasionally like AT, AJ, AQ, AK, KQ, 88 in this spot. So your best option is to just call it down like you did.

Against a known aggressive player you would do better to put more bets in, probably by 3 betting the flop.

One of my biggest leaks that I'm working to correct is paying off the best hand with a marginal hand on the river. However, I think too many people associate "paying off" with bad play. Often times you aren't sure you are beaten, and in Limit, unless you are sure, it's usually better to pay off then to fold. The key is to make sure you don't pay off more than 1 bet on the river.

Summary: Paying off the river is not synonymous with bad play. It's a fact of life in Limit play. Don't fold what could be the best hand to a scare card.

thats why I hate low limit. Why not 3 bet it on the flop? Or I may have popped it on 4th street just to see what he did.

at $.5/1, with no read, you played fine. yeah, he could have AA, KK, or maybe even TT. or he could have AK/AQ/KQ of spades, JJ,or AT. At these stakes, I don't think I could ever fold and overpair in a spot like this.

Not sure why you included stack size for a limit ring game - it's not relevant unless it causes someone to be all in in which case you can't force a fold.

Of course you're not always beaten. Much of the time you are winning. At what point where you thinking of folding? You can't fold it on the river where you have pot odds of slightly under 10:1 to make that call. You only need to be winning once every 10 to 11 times for it to be a break even call.

You played if fine. It happens - no big deal and it's why I love limit.

sure you pay him off but it's not that much in the scheme of things.

NL - you go ALL-IN and lose your stack.

Good post Splossy

Thanks all for the feed back. Seems most would see this hand to the end and that is comforting to know.

The only time I thought of folding would have been on the raised flop. With the preflop action I would strongly put him on AA, KK, AK, JJ. When he pops me on that flop I have to eliminate AK, right?

That is why I went into check/call the rest of the way.

Was I losing value for when he does have JJ? Or better to keep the pot from getting any bigger? Not protecting my hand in case he is on the flush draw?

If I cap the flop and he calls, do I then lay it down when he bets the turn?

Thanks
