Default NL $100, Button steal turns into a big pot

Comments on all streets welcome, but my main interests were,
1) what does turn bet mean?
2) Call river, or push?

I only have 22 hands on villain but he was at 50 VPIP, 36% PRF. He has $100, I cover.

Preflop:
folds to me on the button with
J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], I raise to $4,
both blinds call.

Flop:
T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Pot=$12,
SB, BB check
I bet $12, SB folds, BB calls

looks like a decent flop for me - a six is unlikely, AA-QQ also, so a larger T or maybe JJ are my chief concerns here

Turn:
8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Pot = $36
BB bets $20
I call.

This looks a bit worrying - would he lead like this with air? What about a small PP? I'm behind JJ and 88 now, but ahead of 99 or 77 and my J kicker looks a concern.

River:
6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Pot=$76
Villain Bets $20

well, that is a good card for me as the kicker is no longer a worry, but it looks like i might be splitting most likely. If I push (for ~44more into $116) no better hand (or T) is folding, but 77,8x, 99 might be able to find a fold.

Is the right thing to do to call here or is there more value from worse hands?

I don't know. Can you really rule out a 6 when Villain has 50%VPIP (albeit few hands)?

I would say that the turn bet is either trips avoiding a free card to a straight or pot building by 88.

Fold the turn. Your kicker sucks.

It is very possible that he hit his gutter on turn. VPIP 50 guys sometimes chase with anything, but they also make ridiculously small value bets on river.

Wihout any reasoning behind this, I'm pushing.

this seems a bit weak tight, no?

I have postition which is worth something, and from villain's perspective, I have raised the button and CBet a flop - he's gonna struggle to really read my hand at the turn. I think it's worth calling the turn and seeing what he does with the river - i have a hand with showdown potential and I think he could play this way with any pair potentially.

I might check behind on the flop here, or maybe bet a little less. You can't expect to get called by worse, and when you do I think it's time to shut down save for a J or T on turn.

bet less on flop (say $8) there is no reason to bloat this pot when you would much prefer to play a small one. call turn bet, then call river theres no point pushing his hand is definately no worse than yours but possibly better. pushing achieves nothing and is defo -EV

I like the way you played pf and the flop, but I fold the turn. JTo is a bad hand to bet getting into it with just TP value. ALso to, the blinds seem as if they will call liberally, so a 6 is definately possible.
