Hey guys... i was just watching tv w/ my roomate and i was like let's go to Vegas... you all know how it goes. We're looking online right now for rooms and it seems that Harrahs and the Trop are the cheapest that are close to the V and Bellagio (where we'll be playing). Anybody recommend one over the other? Or if you know of another place about $50/night that's better any help would be great

Trop is a dump. I have no experience with Harrahs rooms. The casino itself caters to the middle age slot playing midwesterner. If you aren't staying there for the food or table games, just the room, you should be fine.
Carnival Court is one of the funner bars on the strip. |

I've never stayed at the Trop before, but Harrah's has always been decent when I've been out there plus it is closer to V an Bell. Just don't expect a 5 star hotel.

Stayed at Harrah's in July. Got upgraded to a junior suite. Room was clean and comparable to a decent Marriott or Hilton. My only compliant was I had the room next to the service elevator hallway and woke up to the sound of maid carts banging the walls every morning.
The hotel is full of 50+ slot players, but I found the poker room was fishy (of course this was during the WSOP so YMMV) with a lot of tourists. Carnival Court is fun and O'Sheas is right next store for drunken table games. Caesar's poker room is less than a 5 minute walk. |

For the love of God, stay at Harrahs rather than the Trop.
Harrah's is a modest property, with a killer location. Easy walking distance to Caesars, Bellagio, Venetian and Mirage. |

To add to the dogpile, Harrah's is closer to the rooms you mention than the Trop is. By a lot.

Harrahs by a mile. Trop is a very far walk from Venetian and pretty long walk from Bellagio.
Harrahs is a 1 casino walk from Venetian and about a 10 minute walk from Bellagio. Another benefit is that Harrahs is right across the street from Ceasars and Mirage. Its literally a 2 minute walk from Harrahs to Mirage poker room. Rooms at Harrahs are on the nicer end of decent. If they are regular rooms, try to get the Carnival tower as those are nicer. Also, don't touch a damm thing in the little refridgerator as everything is on a weight system and you will be instantly charged for it. Other cheapo places in the area are Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Barbary Coast, and Casino Royale, but I think Harrahs is worth $10-20 more a night than those places. Harrahs at anything under $55 a night really is a steal due to room condition and location. When Harrahs is $150+ on weekends, its a ripoff. I've stayed at Harrahs and IP multiple times including in recent months, so if you have any further questions feel free to ask. |

Harrah's and it isn't even close! proximity to the best poker rooms and the action on the strip (on top of the fact that the Trop is garbage) make this a no-brainer.
