Here's a couple of hands I caught in the BB early in yesterday's WCOOP event. No strong reads, my image should have been TAGgy - showed down 2 hands AA and AK - saw a fair number of flops but hadn't been aggressive when I missed.

Please stop overbetting the pot in spots where the only hands that overbet the pot are exactly what you have. That will make things much much easier. Now you're in two pretty bad spots.
Hand 1 is a fold since the only hand you might have beaten just drew out on you (ok, maybe he sometimes has 97s but virtually never). Hand 2 is probably closer. I probably call because I'm a calling station and some people occasionally play hearts like that. Uggh...just noticed that many combinations of hearts just made straights (or pairs that are more likely to check behind). So this is probably a fold too. Steve |

Steve -
Thanks for responding - you interpret both leads there as that strong? I intentionally overbet the first hand expecting that villian would read me for a 6 or draw and if he'd limped a big/medium pair would raise to shut me out and I could win a decent pot (and if he'd whiffed I wasn't getting anything anyway). The flat call wasn't in the plan :-) Do you lead/call the turn after the club comes? Similarly w/ the second hand after it checked through in a limped pot I didn't expect there was much out there and that any reasonable bet would take it down but the overbet might make someone curious. You make a standard value bet here? How do you respond to a RR (and what do you think could be out there doing it)? Thanks again, HC |
