Default PP $109, J7o vs nath

This hand happened a while ago, for some reason just popped in my head to post now.

Nath has been to my left for a since I got moved to this table early. He's been playing LAG and hit a run to make him CL. One hand that went to showdown he raised PF, bet/3bet someone allin and had KJ for top 2 pair and took in a monster pot.

We only played one small hand early. I bet into him twice with nothing (K high) on the flop and turn. We checked the river and I beat a busted draw. He made a comment about raising me if I bet into him with nothing.

I don't think he knew I was a 2+2er. At first I was hoping to avoid getting in a hand with him, then I decided I had a better read on him than anyone else at the table and I don't think he knows I do.

I see why you checked the flop, but you can't be doing that with such a marginal hand. Definitely lead the flop, and if not, then you must lead the turn. No point in trying to be too deceptive with just top pair and a weak kicker.

I don't think his check was strictly for deceptive purposes. Not getting too heavily investeed coupled with trying to get to showdown come to mind as the reasons for his checked flop.

As played though, I probably c/c the turn. Stick with your original plan of pot management here. Would your opponents (at the time of the hand) really check top pair here on this board?

Fold preflop... I can't imagine why you would want to get involved with a poor hand here against a tough aggressive player who's capable of putting you to many tough decisions when you catch a small piece of the flop. As played bet 3/4 pot on the turn I guess. You figure to have the best hand but there's lots of draws out there. If you get raised it's sure going to suck though.

without knowing what the hand is, i would suggest you have me beat here and i'm checking mostly because i tend to play more straightforwardly when i'm against multiple opponents and don't particularly need the small pot

edit: seems the HH is on my old laptop. i have no clue what i have.

Okay, here's what happened.

MP1 (t2350)
MP2 (t5426)
MP3 (t4306)
CO (t8071)
Button (t4712)
SB (t1915)
Hero (t4435)
UTG (t20552)
UTG+1 (t4205)
UTG+2 (t5688)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG raises to t550, 3 folds, MP2 calls t550, 4 folds, Hero calls t350.

Flop: (t1750) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, MP2 checks.

Turn: (t1750) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets t600, MP2 folds, Hero all-in [t4085]

My thinking,

On the flop, leading out is dangerous. If the other 2 players missed, they fold. If nath has any good hand or draw, he will probably come way over the top and put me in a tough position where I could end up folding the best hand or paying off a bigger hand just because he's a LAG.

On the turn, Im almost positive I have the best hand. After watching nath pound the flop with big hands like top 2, I figured the chances of him slowplaying here was slim to none. So unless someone turned a set, I was probably good.

I decided to check because I figured nath would have to bet the turn after MP2 checked behind the flop and I checked twice. I pushed over top to shutout all draws and take it down there.
