Default Bwin executives arrested in France, egaming under Euro pressure

Bwin executives were arrested in France as part of a crackdown there on "illegal" internet gaming.

If you want to interpet share price movements in Party or other publicly traded UK entities, do not forget that eGaming is being pressured in France and Germany as well as in the US.

(The source for the bWin information is egamingreview at egrmagazine.com)

for those who had no clue what Bwin was, it looks like it's a sports book. I didn't click on any links in a google search though.

Default Ongame owners under Euro pressure

Okay, is that a bit more clear as to why this is poker news ...

By the way, I just got an email from VictorChandler saying no more US business, referring me, oddly enough to another UK poker site.

Ok, this is getting serious. What are the euro laws that bwin is breaking? I know what is problem in Germany - they want to protect their bookies. I don't think there are any problems with nonbetting companies. Party should also remove their casino part ASAP to avoid problems. Probably Online casinos are next.

france also tries to protect its state owned monopoly. in the EU all countries have their own laws concerning gambling.

most are just there to protect the state owned monopolies as they are a major source of tax income for the governments.
they are too ignorant to acknowledge, that there is another way like the one in UK. especially in germany lots of the politicians who are behind the recent legal actions also have highly paid jobs within the state owned monopolies.

so much for moral and hypocrisy!

the EU has already started investigations on several countries (including germany) if they're local laws break the EU laws. but it is quite a lengthy process.

the german government for example now tries everything to crush private companies before the EU might overrule their national laws. and in france they now seem to try the same!

Keep in mind that Sweden actually operates a poker site. presumably, it would welcome other EU players via Government-sanctioned skins.
