AA big pot - 200NL
warning: This is a bad beat hand and may look like that but it's by far the biggest pot that I have been involved in since moving to NL and I want some feedback on my play during the hand. I'm not as concerned with the results, but with the actual hand.
I'm doing this hand from memory. Villian is 75/45 over a 200 hand sample (in this single session) and has been over betting pots, donk betting lots, and just making tons of random agressive moves and a lot of bluffs. He's horrible and not afraid of playing big pots, even with nothing. He will call big raises on the flop with draws, overcards, and has done it with as little as one overcard. This game is 1/2NL 6-Max. Villian has about $440 and I have him covered. I have black Aces. Villian limps UTG and I raise to 8, button calls (button seems to be semi-solid but straight forward - I think he is mainly focused on getting involved with this player and stacking him), and villian limp reraises to 14. I reraise to 35 (I might be remembering this bet size wrong, but it's close, edit: I think I made it $42) hoping to dump button and get into a head's up pot with the super donk. Both players call. Flop is K78 with two diamonds (or might have been two hearts). Pot ~= $100. Villian bets $60 and I raise it to $180. Button folds and villian calls. Turn is J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and there are now two diamonds and two hearts. Pot ~= $480. Villian bets $60 and has about $160 left. I push. |

Re: AA big pot - 200NL
no, not standard.
he did after all actually minraise. however, your reraise is the suck too. it's ok to go broke here if you made a real reraise on top - somewhere in the range of 65-70. as far as handreading goes, he DID limp raise. second, every time someone's donked into me and smoothcalled a raise, and then donked into me again for the same underpot amount, they had a set and were praying for a call. don't go broke with aces when you didn't even get 10% effective stscks in preflop. i say this because YOU were the one who did all the postflop raising. he would have let you get to showdown calling off only $180, it appears. |

[/ QUOTE ] This guy had the tendency to min-reraise with just about any two. He certainly did not require a pocket pair to do so. I thought I made this quite clear in the original post. And I am sure that I made it $42 to go, not $35. |

Re: AA big pot - 200NL
I'm getting two hands mixed up - pre-flop action is wrong. Here is the actual hand. Sorry about the confusion. My description of villian is accurate for sure though.

Re: AA big pot - 200NL
That PF 4-bet is tiny, you're giving him great odds to flop a monster with these stacks. Make it at least $50. I call flop and go from there.

Re: AA big pot - 200NL
Make a larger 4-bet preflop. The hand plays differently obviously, but I think that calling the flop is best.

[/ QUOTE ] Your hand converter is all messed up. You raised $6, then he re-raised you $5? Anyhow, your PF raise isn't that terrible. Though a half-pot raise really isn't enough in this situation. Your flop play is terrible. Gotta re-raise AI, and hope he flips over AK. |
