New and Confused, trying to line shop
I am playing Fantasy FOotball for the first time in years, and figured I might as well learn about sports betting if Im gonna watch football anyways.
I read the FAQ about line shopping. I signed up with bodog and pinacle. I placed a bet with Bodog on Oakland +13. Risk 10 to win 9.09 At Pinnacle, it was also +13, but risk 11.50 to win 10. Bodog is returunng 91%, vs 86%. Is this difference a reflection of the odds and other ppls bets, or is it a difference in vig? Thanks |

Re: New and Confused, trying to line shop
Its a combonation of both, they create the odds one team has and then add their vig to the odds they set. so, if both books set the odds identical then its a reduction in vig, but theres not always a clear way to tell.

Re: New and Confused, trying to line shop
In this spot it looks like pinny is trying to get more action on the ravens at this price. Pinny offers reduced juice so their lines tend be around -104 to -106 for the pros. The fact that they are at about -115 for this game is pretty telling.
Normally if a game is at -3 and the book (like pinny) is getting heavy action on the favorite they will first move the line from -3, -105 (juice) to -3, -115 because they don't want to get middled. You will even see lines like -3, -125. However, since the line in the raider game is a lofty 13 it is odd that they would have oakland at -115. Obviously, they really don't want to give players the chance to buy the game up to 14. Personally, i really like your oakland bet this week. its never a bad idea to play a team that looked horrible the week before. good luck |

Hey thanks for the info guys, still a bit cloudy, but if i reread it and look at a few more lines I think I can grasp it.
