Default 1/2 LHE games in AC?

My wife and I are headed to AC soon. She doesn't play much poker and I'd like to start her off at the lowest limits possible.

I'm told there are a couple 1/2 Fixed Limit Hold'em games in AC? Where can I find them? Is the rake brutal? Do they actually have a .50c chip for the small blind?

I don't know if anywhere in AC has 1/2 LHE, but some games in AC (esp. low-limit stud) use 50c coins...as in real US currency, instead of 50c chips. I often use them to tip in split pot games.

I haven't seen any 1/2 games, but 2/4 can be found.

The only places I recall seeing $1-2 LHE were Casino del Sol in Tucson and the Bike in LA. I also know that Florida rooms spread it quite a bit. Never seen it in AC, but you can scan 78suited.com and see if you find anything.

As detailed on the wiki $2/4 LHE is virtually everywhere.

Stick with the internet for 1/2 limit. It's not condusive for a cardrooms bottom line to spread 1/2 limit whatsoever. There are 1-3 and 1-5 spread limits to be found in various parts of the U.S. The only 1/2 limit that I'm aware of is the Luxor's "training" game for 1 hour after the class, then it bumps to a 2/4.

$2/4 is the minimum LHE in AC, and plays like 5c/10c online.

most places will allow you to buy in as low as $20 (5BB) if you're worried about early bad variance.

rake is 10% up to $4. may also be an additional $1 jackpot drop depending on where you play. it's customary to tip at least $1 on reasonably-sized winning pots.

I don't think any experienced player considers these games unbeatable, though perhaps not for a living wage. have fun

Thanks everyone. I'll have her try out the 2/4 tables. She's only ever really played in home games so to her 2/4 stakes are pretty high.

I told her not to worry about the money, that she's playing for entertainment value. She's not bad for the short amount of time she's played, probably because she can read people well.

She should be fine at 2-4 with some basic training. 1-2 live limit is useless anyway with the giant rake.

The .50 cent pieces are used for the ante in 5/10 7 card stud games in AC.
