Default Never stop firing?

Online 3 handed $40/80 game. I haven't seen the villain showdown a hand yet but so far seems like a standard aggressive type (ie. 3 betting out the SB to button raises and continuation flop bets).

He opens from the SB and I 3 bet T8s from the big blind. He caps. Flop is A62 with 2 of my suit. He bets I raise he calls.

Turn is an offsuit 3 and he check/calls.

River is a Q and I fire away again because the all mighty T high might be the best. He calls and I lose to 77.

Lately I've been experimenting with firing on all streets with draws and thus far have had mixed results. I never used to be a 3 barrel guy but recently implemented it on occassion when I started to notice that when I was playing the $100/200 at the Bellagio some guys would check/call, check/call, check/fold with say mid pair against guys who only fire twice.

How do we feel about this approach online? I guess the line is way better if he didn't preflop cap. Any thoughts on the hand would be appreciated.

In some sense you've already fired three barrels, counting the preflop 3-bet.

I never 3 barrel vs showdown monkey. This guy called with 77 the whole way after all the agression he has seen so far with A and Q on board. Crazy stuff. Dont bluff this type of player, value bet thiner.

I think as soon as it gets capped preflop you should abandon any thoughts of a pissing contest unless you know he is really good.

My thoughts exactly. Capping pf is a way of someone accidentally telling me they are going to showdown their hand 99% of the time.

That is so untrue imo. The game is running 3 handed and when it is that way people are capping much more lighter than usual. I might cap stuff like JTs,89 which has no showdown equity in the hope that someone with K-Q high will give up before the river and let me win the pot UI.

Mig,

I wouldn't characterize your play as "standard aggression", more tricky. My statement was with regards to this particular opponent.

Also in this case villain was OOP.

If villain's capping range is this wide then my comment is incorrect. I assumed a range comprised almost entirely of big Aces and pairs.
