Default What ranking would the top female tennis player be in open competition

I thought perhaps around #60, my (female) colleagues thought #10.

I believe the Williams sisters each played a guy ranked around #200 years ago, and he smoked them easily. I don't think Mauresmo or whoever you put #1 would be close to the top 100 overall.

101?

I'm basing this on a hazily-remembered quote from Martina Navratilova when she was at the top of her game. She said, IIRC, she'd lose to the 100th-ranked man in the world.

Your female colleagues are insane. Not close to being in the top 100.

Yes, which began my lifelong hatred of the Williams sisters. They bragged that they could beat any male ranked lower than 200, and after he won fairly routinely, she/they complained that he hit too hard.

No way any female player gets near the top 100. Mauresmo might be able to ascend to something like #250.

Clearly that guy was underranked, he should've been at LEAST #180.

I think I recall Chris Evert saying that her brother would kill her, and he was never even ranked in like the top 300.

My roommates in law school who both played Div 1 tennis in college swore up and down they would crush Serena and Penis Williams. They thought I was out of my mind for doubting them.

Wait. What if the woman only had to use a baseball glove while the guy got to use a racket?
