Default Mr WSEX GM, et al, A SOLUTION

I have the perfect solution to the problem.

Allow screen name changes at will. Then you can allow any software and not have to worry with any counter measures, banning software, etc, etc.

But, for heaven’s sake, DON’T UPDATE THE BUDDY LIST WITH THE NEW SCREEN NAME like the fools at Party do.

This would also add to the fun as the sharks try to figure out if the 65/50 maniac is the same guy who was doing this two days ago but now under a new name.

I can just see myself being TonyTornado one day with stats of 50/35, then becoming PassivePete with 20/5 numbers the next. Yeah, try tracking THAT.

As a case history, I will relate my recent experiences at Party.

As “Tuff_Fish” I came to realize I simply couldn’t play normal poker and work on my game. I had become the object of too much attention. I changed my screen name, but behold, within the hour my new name was well known. Party, in their infinite stupidity of catering to the strip miners, ( I call them the Russian Trawlers) updated my new name on the buddy list. AND, there is a software program that will aid the sharks in tracking down their prey even with a new screen name.

So, the upshot is that I will NEVER play at Party again. Party loses a customer, and the sharks lose a potential playmate.

Now I ask all the sharks and wanabe sharks. Would you rather have me playing at Party even if you can’t track me with software, or would you prefer I NEVER appear on Party again?

And for all you idiots who think that the fish are too ignorant to realize that there are “buddy lists” and such, I have news for you. While a few brand new rec players don’t get it right away, they catch on soon enough. And if they can’t figure out how to avoid being the target, they leave. There are not near as many players who are totally indifferent to the presence of “aids” or are just completely ignorant of them as most 2+2er’s would like to believe.

Why do you think the game have gotten so much tighter and tougher as time has gone by? Party/Stars and most other “name” sites have become shark chasing shark with the occasional minnow wandering by. The most competent sharks are doing OK, the rest are treading water, and the fish, well they are gone almost before they get settled in.

I think Cake Poker (what an abysmal name) allows unlimited name changes, but they lack another essential ingredient…. Players.

So.., my solution, allow unlimited name changes with no tracking of names.

The result would be safety for all but the most ignorant of fish, and much more fun for all.

Tony

I don't like it. I like recognizing the guys I play with -- not from their stats, but just from playing with them over and over again.

Yea I hate this idea. If you want to allow unlimited name changes just call the guy in Seat 1 - Player 1. That way we would never know who we are playing with. Would be a terrible idea IMHO.

Even more perfect solution:
Don't change anything and stick to your decision.

The OP's suggestion is just a desperate attempt to keep using decision making software.

I think the fish that should be protected the most are the ones that don't know how to protect themselves. Those fish wouldn't change their screen names because they don't even know there are a lot of sharks using computer programs to track every move they make.

GM's decision was intended to keep inocent fish from being chased and slaughtered and OP's suggestion just helps sharks disguising themselves.

WSEX/WPEX is [censored] retarded.

Only their [censored] management could make a rake free pokerroom grow at such a horrible rate.

Give me a rakefree pokersite to run and I gurantee it'd crush party's numbers in a year.

Their low player based can only be blamed on [censored] management and poor business decisions.

Rika,

They're not trying to run a successful poker site!!! They are trying to run a successful sportsbook using rakefree poker as a loss leading draw. Crushing party would cost them massive amounts of money in terms of neteller fees infrastucture servers etc and is clearly not the long term goal.

Why bother explaining. The guy is obviously retarded, has probably been loosing for months and doesn't like sites that threaten his affiliate business.

Finally he semms to come from a family with no manners.

Get lost Rika

Tuff, I like this, but with a twist. Players should just be asked to input an alias before every session. All stats would be based off of sessions, not histories. HUDs would work, but data mining would be next to useless.
I am a bigtime HUD advocate, but I would definitely find this acceptable.
