What\'s the minimum number of hands to rate players on Poker Tracker?
I have mine set at 40 but when I go to a new level or one I don't play too much, I want to get at least a PT read on players as soon as possible--one that is fairly reliable.

Re: What\'s the minimum number of hands to rate players on Poker Tracke
i like to have a few thousand hands before i can decide foe sure if someone is good. I play drastical diffrent depending on table conditions, so dont read into PAhud stats 2much. If a person plays tight it jumps out with a lower amount of hands. Good lags you need alot of hands on to tell if there are winners

A hundred hands and you have a solid read. A few hundred and it's almost certainly reliable. If I have more than 200 hands on someone I consider those numbers totally accurate until proven otherwise. |

By 'rate' are you talking about the autorate system? It depends which stats you are using in your rules IMO. 40 is a little low but you can get an idea of VPIP and PFR in that number. About 200 and AF and WTSD are becoming useful too. You should avoid W$SD unless you have >1000 I'd say, even then it doesn't tell you much unless it's extreme (<40 or >60).

Re: What\'s the minimum number of hands to rate players on Poker Tracke
Yes, autorate is all I use. I use PFR and VPIP. AF too. I don't use WTSD or W$SD. Maybe I shouldn't rely on AF until about 200.. I autoimport as I play and when I play 3 tables or even 4 I don't get to watch the game or other players so much for reads so I rely on PA HUD. I'm not a long session player usually, thus the "40" number.
Thanks for the input |

Re: What\'s the minimum number of hands to rate players on Poker Tracker?
10 hands is usually enough to tell if someone is very tight or very loose. A 10%'er will usually level out higher and an 80+%'er will usually level out as lower, but you can get a general idea of some players VPIP after 10 hands.

Re: What\'s the minimum number of hands to rate players on Poker Tracke
Depends on the statistic too.
In my HUD I have vpip/pfr/af/fold to flop bet/hand count VPIP you only need 80-100 hands to see convergence to their true number. PFR you need slightly more, probably 150+ AF, this one takes a long long time to converge to their true number. It's a factor at 200+ hands but not rock solid until 1000+. Fold to flop bet also takes a long time to be reliable, probably 300-500 hands. |

No way, there is way too much variance. A player can pick up 3 good hands in that 10 hand span and now they have a VP$IP of 30% I have to agree with the other posters, that for VP$IP you need about 100, but the more the better |
