Umm, call the preflop minraise, flop the nut straight and triple up.

I think you are being blinded by the results as the what was the correct preflop play. The amount in the pot compared to what you have to call is very high, therefore you have to call this. You're dumping it on the flop, but you should have at least seen the flop.

well, the read I had on these two were that they were pretty solid and were not doing anything dumb. Therefore I gave them credit for big hands.

I think you are focusing too much on the result of the actual hand. You need to think about the range of hands your opponents could have in this situation. With the range of hands in mind this is a standard preflop call because your odds are so good.

Even if you just know that you are beaten you still call?
Haven't you ever had the feeling that you were up against exactly what you thought you were up against? Granted it would have been easy to fold this on the flop, but I nailed exactly what they had. I just felt it. |

If your read is so tight that they're on AA and KK, then yeah, fold. But put them with JJ and QQ (not bad hands) and you win about 36% of the time. And that's leaving out other good hands that even rocks would play. AQs or AJs in the small blind and he's got to call the raise, and you dominate him. You're putting 3200 into a 14000 pot. You've got to like those odds with AK even against two tight players. |
