Default Beer Question: Imports vs. Domestic

Some people don't know that 'most' domestic bottled beers have twist off tops and imported beers are 'usually' non twist off...

My questions is: Why is this?

Thanks!

Because Americans are too dumb to open a bottle?

Very possible...

A friend once made a somewhat compelling argument that it had to do with recycling but I was obv. drunk at the time and forgot.

May be related to those beers making the long and arduous journey across the ocean and/or Mexican border to your lips... I dunno

It kinda seems like Scrilla is asking why people are ign'ant....

My guess is that most people don't drink enough beer.

In this case, America is right. There is no reason all beer bottles should not be twist off.

Because American bottles, unlike the beers within, are better.

Because they know when Americans get drunk, they're stupid enough to try to twist off tops that don't twist off, and tear up their hands or break their teeth off. It's very hard to keep a drunk American from hurting himself, so you have to take measures.
