Ultimate Poker Challenge Season 1 DVD

Anyone ever watch the first season of the Ultimate Poker Challenge? I was thinking about picking up the DVD set. The reviews are that the poker is not the best, but the guest commentators made it very educational. I think pros like Negreanu, Matusow, Ferguson, etc were guest commentators each week.

Anyway, I have never even seen a single episode of this show, so I thought it might be cool to get the first season. Anyone think it is worth checking out? Or is it horrible?

I saw a couple of episodes including one with Harrington as guest commentator.

Occasionally interesting commentary...but mostly it was an awful program imo.
Really bad.

Roughly on par with what I have seen of the Mansion Poker Dome Challenge thing. Better commentary on UPC doesn't make up for how lousy the show is.

honestly, it is worse than lousy. Poor production, a bizzare 5 minute repetitive "introduction" 2/3 of the way through the program, only all-in hands......save your money, trust me.

Agree with the above. Many of the hands shown are not your typical hands, but all ins and crazy suckouts etc. Some of the commentary was very good, but often it was lacking considerably. I'm not sure if Doyle Brunson was commentating on the final for Season 1 or 2, but he barely said a word and there was no insight to be had from it.

Whew, thanks for the information guys. Probably saved me some disappointment. Maybe WPT will be releasing their season 4 dvd set soon. I might just wait for it to come out.

The play was generally bad on UPC, but to be fair, no one ever folded in the BB preflop when no one had raised.

I've only seen about two or three eps. of each show, but I'd say Poker Dome is worse mainly for that reason...not to mention that Poker Dome is just trying to hard and I hate the game show format.
