I just, as in past couple days, moved to the Washington DC area to embark on a non-gambling career.
I'm a CA transplant, fun, laid back, hardworking, and as 24/m was wondering if people in the area had recommendations on neighborhoods, restaurants, nightlife etc. Also, I am looking for a place to rent. Any advice appreciated. |

move back [/ QUOTE ] Thats probably the best advice. If you're fun loving and laid back, you're in the wrong place. But, if you're stuck here, then check out Adam's Morgan. |

its funny how different people view different towns. all of my black friends from college, love DC. They call it chocolate city. And on the other end all of my white friends say DC sucks. just an FYI.

I'm white and enjoy DC, but I also like politics a lot. Hit up Adams Morgan for the nightlife, lots of young professionals.

I am white and live the surrounding areas and love DC. I hate politics and that doesnt seem to be a problem.
Check out Georgetown and Arlington. Far better than Adams Morgan. |

for the most part, according to my sister (26 who lived there for the past 2-3yrs), the "good" parts of "town" are separated from the "bad" parts. However, its expensive, full of politics, and w/ a crime rate that high, just move to atlanta.

At least the traffic won't surprise you as much as it usually surprises other newcomers. |
