Default 7Stud

Might be playing stud live in a BM for the first time and I was wondering what the etiquette/rules are for handling your cards. i.e., is it ok to re-arrange your cards as they come to you? how about just moving around your downcards but not the ups? do you use a card protector? etc etc. any advice is appreciated.

You're supposed to keep the up cards in the order they were dealt. As for the downcards its the same as hold'em.

The dealer is supposed to pitch the cards in a manner that they look like they do online. But, usually dealers are sloppy.

If you move your upcards, you're supposed to put them in an order which makes it obvious what order they were dealt to you in.

One day I got a bit annoyed at how the dealer was pitching the cards in such a messy manner that I never moved any of my cards (not even the down cards). As a result, my cards were all over the place. The two down cards were often not near each other. The 3rd street card could be out in front of all the others while the 6th street card would be pitched all the way to the rail.

This image is actually neater than the way my hands usually looked.

And why where you sitting in the 1-5 stud game at the Mirage? Were you there to watch old people get older?

OP, if you are planning to play stud in Vegas, you had better be quick, while they are still spreading the odd game.

As Dynasty explains in the magazine this month, stud games are a seriously endagered species.

LOL. I think I played at the same table with you a few times. Maybe 15 - 18 years ago? There was a guy who did this quite a bit and he told me one time that it was because of the dealers. This was at the bike in the 2/4 and 3/6 games. He had long sideburns and wore black t-shirts.
