Folding AA ??
Ok actually it was KK but I wanted to get a moan from the peanut gallery.
Yesterday everything was going right as a B&M 500 MTT. They didn't have a great turnout so were only paying down to 7th. The situation I fortunately got into, was having almost half the chips when it became bubble time. Thats when this hand came up. It was two players from everyone being ITM and everyone was playing scared letting me gobble up pot after pot uncontested. Then it happened, The SB pushes all in with around 2.5 times the BB. Im in the bigblind and look down at KK. I go to instacall, kind of disapointed for the change i know is going to happen as soon as everyone knows they are in the money,... but then I think, what the hell, ill probably get back those three chips every other hand if i can keep everyone on the bubble playing scared. So for the first time in my life I mucked KK, almost assured of winning the hand. and it did work out, I was able to muscle around the other players and keep them from gambling for a few more rounds around the table and picked up a few chips.. including a good chunk of the one player I was a bit scared of. so ... bottom line ... was I an idiot for streatching out the bubble, or should i have just gobbled the chips and worry about all the villians having a few more chips next round? |

Re: Folding AA ??
What were the other stacks like? This is a good play (as is calling) if they had like medium-sized stacks and were trying to fold into the money.
Calling is obviously EV+, but if you think you can make more money by strectching out the bubble, go for it. |

[ QUOTE ] Is this a joke? [/ QUOTE ] No, go read it. [/ QUOTE ] Don't have it here, but even if this is correct (which I understand is possible, given an extremly specific set of circumstances), the SB being eliminated would not end the bubble. OP stated that there were _two_ players to go before the bubble burst... |

I'm folding KK like never, personally, though. |

This move is discussed in TPFAP. Well played! [/ QUOTE ] I agree. If it's one from the bubble, it's a good move. If it's two from the bubble... still good move. Eliminating one player and moving into the final bubble position could only serve to make the players play weaker than they already are, but keeping it at 9 can only serve to extend the length of your command over the table. Your benefits from this can easily surpass 2.5bbs. Had you had AA instead of KK, you would have been in a very similar situation, and I think if it's correct to fold KK, it's probably correct to fold AA here as well. |
