NL100: How to handle stupid flop min raises?
I am running really bad today and everyone min raising me on the flop is starting to drive me crazy. How do you handle this when an aggressive opponent does it OOP. Here is an example. Villain 20/5/3:
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) CO ($43.20) Button ($99.50) SB ($100.50) Hero ($212.10) UTG ($127.41) MP ($164.64) Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50. 1 fold, MP calls $1, CO calls $1, 2 folds, Hero checks. Flop: ($3.50) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets $3, MP raises to $6, CO folds, Hero calls $3. Turn: ($15.50) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, MP bets $8, Hero folds. Final Pot: $23.50 |

Re: NL100: How to handle stupid flop min raises?
min raise him back and bet the turn, if he calls c/c the river and make a note of what he had, then move on after you win, this really smells like jt or something vurry similar, min raising for info is a great play and this is WHY, people do NOT know how to handle it

Re: NL100: How to handle stupid flop min raises?
I play this one the same as you. Villain minraises with one player to act after, seems more likely he's looking to build a pot than take it down. With a PFR of 5, your villain can have a large range that beats you including a higher J. I look for a better spot the majority of the time.
If you do want to take this further, then I think the turn K is a decent card to make a blocking bet on. If he calls then you can limit his range to at least a pair that likely can't value bet on the river if you check to him since he may put you on the K now. Thus, if he calls the turn then I'd check/fold unimproved on the river if he bets. |
