Default NL 50 FR: 66 in a situation I play alot and think I suck at

Only have 8 or so hands on villain.

I have $40, villain covers.

I have 66 in MP. One limper to me, I call, button raises to $4 and I call. (First mistake?)

Flop is 5 7 T with a heart draw.

I check, villain bets $4, I call. (Second mistake?)

Turn is an offsuite 9. I check, villain bets $10, and I....?

I get in situations like this all the time where I have a small pair and it sucks. Stop playing little pairs OOP? Or force villain to better define his hand?

Your call preflop is ok, that respect the rule of 10. If you can win 10 times what you call, its ok to call (4x10=40, its ok)

Bet the flop or check fold, dont call

I fold preflop he has raised it too much, 8 times the BB.

With small pairs its ok to limp but when they raise you have to take into account how much they raise and how likely it is that you will get their stack if you hit.

I tend to price myself in at double the odds assuming that they will get away from big pairs/AK/AQ or anything else he decides to raise 50% of the time. You are OOP as well so it is much more difficult to milk him, if you push on the flop he might get away from his hand and if you wait for the turn he might check behind.

When they raise 8BB I fold because I doubt I can make up the difference when i hit unless I have position and there is another caller.

The rest of your play is just spewy. You made a mistake calling that flop raise now cut your losses on the flop when you miss.

I'd probably fold pre-flop (pretty damn big raise and you're OOP). But as played I'd fold the flop.
