Default Red Nines

Four handed 10-20 game. Folded to button, a decent player (slightly laggy) who raises. I reraise out of the small with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. BB folds and button now caps. I call. Two to the flop of 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. I check, he bets, I raise and he calls. The turn is the A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. What's my line for the rest of the hand?

Thanks,
Jeff

Bet fold works well here, unless you are against a habitual bluffer.

against a lag im usually going to just c/c here as a bet goes in most of the time. Against someone less agg you can bet if you feel comfortable folding to a raise.

Raising the flop here = thumbs down. I'd always wait for the turn on a board like this. As played I would turtle and go into checking mode here, since the natural bluffing frequency in this spot is about right for most players. Against scared nits you can bet / fold.

I often go into armadillo mode and check/call down if I think this is the type of player that will realize we do not like this turn card at all a lot of the time. If I think he's a more straightforward type I'm bet/folding the turn and I don't know on the river, sort of depends on what it is. Check/call fairly often.

Bet/fold, bet/fold.

Jeff,

I'd probably bet-call the turn, folding to a river followup bet. I'm also not a huge fan of the flop raise.

It would seem the hands checking behind here are hands that beat us anyways and bluffs are going to barrel. Am I way off here?

If you wait for the turn to raise and its an ace, do you check/fold?

I would assume most "bluffs" are freeSD stuff like smallish pairs / K-hi that's going to check behind knowing it's ahead of my missed draws. I'd be interested in hearing the consensus thought on how often villain would be making a move with his own draw because othrewise there aren't that many pure bluff hands out there.
