JJ reraised OOP facing small flop bet
I haven't really noticed anything about him, he's running around 24/8 over about 60 hands and hasn't reraised preflop yet.
My image is squeaky clean, I'm running around 18/14 and showing down the goods in big pots. On the flop I wasn't sure how to read his bet. I could just fold and move on, but I thought there was a decent chance he had a hand that wouldn't be able to stand much pressure. On the turn I think I should just give up, but part of me said I should fire again because I think he can fold AA or KK here. The hand: I open for $40 with $1800 behind. Next to act average player calls with $700 behind. Button raises to $120 and covers the table. I call, other guy folds. Flop comes Q96 rainbow. I check, he bets $120 into an almost $300 pot. I check-raise to $400, he thinks and calls. The turn is a 5 putting out a flush draw. The pot is around $1100 and we have ~$1300 effective stacks left. Line? |

Re: JJ reraised OOP facing small flop bet
A handy little rule that I learned is don't c/r unless you are quite sure of how you stand in relation to your opponents hand. In this hand I think c/c the flop is better than c/r because now you have a little more than a PSB in a inflated reraised pot with a mediocre hand and no clue where you stand.

How often are you check-raising that flop with a set?

In this hand I think c/c the flop is better than c/r [...] [/ QUOTE ] I would like a call a lot better if I were in position. But since I'm not, against a 24/8 who in all likelihood has a narrow 3bet range preflop I think if a c/c is better than c/r, then a c/f is better than both. [ QUOTE ] How often are you check-raising that flop with a set? [/ QUOTE ] Reasonably often given stack sizes. |

Re: JJ reraised OOP facing small flop bet
if you think he will lay AA or KK tehn you should bet cause thats probably what he has but I think expecting him to fold those hands in a RR pot is pretty optimistic. it could work but probably not often enough. the flop raise won't fold out any better hands so I don't like it, if you think his range is light enough then calling looks better but folding and moving on might be the best move.
