Default Requesting to see a losing hand . . .

I know its completely against etiquette and in poor form all-around, but suppose you're at a table w/ someone like DN who raises '80-90%' of the flops, and fires on anything.

A fine example would be the 9,8 hand against the kid from Sweden in which the kid turned two pair on a 3 flush board. Negreanu claims to have "almost gotten there". Would it be +EV to request to see his cards before they hit the muck? You're gonna look like an a**hole on ESPN, but at some point you want to get a feel for what he's doing (w/out having to pay off a huge hand for information).

Am I correct in that you can still request to see a player's hand before the dealer mucks them?

Note:I've never done this outside of home games in which we've done it solely to [censored] w/ the other person, not so much of an information thing.

is this really that bad of an image? if i'm playing live, and some idiot is raising/reraising every hand/flop, i might be playing a bit scared. if so, and i'm only playing the nuts, i'm going to want to see what kind of crap he's playing with and hitting with.

Hmm, would you be cool with DN seeing your cards after a hand you played? Just wondering since it'd be only fair.

In my opinion there is no such thing as etiquette, there are only rules. Either the rules allow you to see the hand, or they don't. Since they do, go ahead and ask every time you need to, I would certainly do that and not give a damn about upsetting anyone. This is not a popularity contest, it'a a poker contest

If he's raising/reraising every hand/flop, then the last thing you should need is to see his cards. His cards are the least relevent factor in his decision to raise so often.
