Default First Hand Post - Be Gentle

The table in general was a bunch of rocks, but I didn't have a read on this player yet:

Bet365 .50/1 Hold'em (6 max, h handed)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, <font color="red">Hero calls</font>, Button calls, SB calls, <font color="red">BB checks</font>.

Flop: (6 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
SB checks, <font color="red">BB checks</font>, UTG checks, MP checks, <font color="red">Hero checks</font>, Button checks.

Turn: (3 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
SB checks, <font color="red">BB bets</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="red">Hero ???</font>.

He's the BB so he could have lot's of stuff. Against an unknown I raise turn and value bet the river(probably fold to a raise). Against a particularily aggressive opponent I think I'd just call down to induce him to bluff the river.

Against a solid player (who knows your a solid player) who won't bluff the river with a whiffed draw, or call a bet on the the river with a six or a weak jack, I like raising for a free showdown.

Nice post. Welcome to the board.

Edit: I didn't notice it was 6max. Value betting/raising is good.

Raise. Win pot. Go to Blackjack. Double money won from pot. Get drunk.

I raise this. Also, did you see the thread with the warnings about Bet365?

I would raise the turn. If he 3 bets call down. This could very well be a bluff given the weakness shown by the table and even if it isn't it your 9 is a decent kicker, especially against a blind who could have J anything.

Welcome to the forums. Spend a lot of time here, your game will love you for it.

I was going to say fold the flop until I realized that read didn't mean bet So yeah, raise.

I'll ask the field something else though: what if UTG had bet out instead, what's your line (probably read dependent)? I don't think he'd have a lower jack, but I'd be loathe to fold if he's on a bluff. A toughie for me.

That would be a bit tougher and I think we should probably just chuck it, although saying it and doing it are 2 different things....

Grunch, not like I really know what I'm doing:

Raise the turn. Nobody has shown any strength at all and the BB might have any two cards and thus any piece of that flop.
